Afridi gets rapturous welcome on arrival

June 5: Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, who is due to appear before the PCB disciplinary committee, received a tumultuous welcome from his diehard supporters when he arrived here on Sunday evening from London.
Around 5,000 cricket enthusiasts thronged the Quaid-i-Azam International Airport to show their solidarity with the hugely popular cricketer.
Afridi was profusely garlanded as soon as he came out of the arrival lounge.
In their endeavour to catch a glimpse of their most favourite cricketer, several people among the crowd, which had been waiting for hours, sustained injuries when police resorted to baton charge to disperse them.
Afridi didn’t talk to the media present at the airport because of the heavy rush of people and headed to his residence where he is likely to hold a brief press conference.
Meanwhile, Afridi is also due to speak to the media on Monday at the Karachi Press Club at 4:00pm
